Travel Makeup Tips - a Little or a Lot??
I am heading overseas this week and so I have obviously been thinking a lot about what to take, what do I need, what's the weather going to be etc etc. It actually really is a job in itself to decide on what you are going to take isn't it? And that's not just clothes but also your skincare and makeup.
Firstly, it does depend where you are going and what you are going to be doing. Because depending who you are, you probably wont need a lot of makeup on a hiking trip but then you might be a very fashionable hiker haha! I would probably still wear my full makeup but that's me :)
Below are some tips for packing lightly but cleverly so that you can still be you while you're away. Although I admit personally I am a bit of an over packer when it comes to my makeup because I do really love choice but there are always options. I have used Mary Kay products as they are my favourite, you will of course have yours!
1. Skincare
When we travel our skin can be one of the first things to suffer. Drying air in planes, changing diet, lack of sleep etc can cause breakouts or dry skin so its important to keep a regular skincare regime going and as close to your normal regime is best.
Filling little bottles of your cleanser, moisturiser and other day or night creams is a great way to take them, if you can get mini bottles of all its even better. I like to take mini bottles of my Mary Kay Miracle Set which includes a day and night solution as well keeping the skin refreshed and the day solution also gives sunscreen protection as well.
2. Foundation
There are so many options with foundation but some quick and easy options are:
CC Cream
This cream has so many benefits, moisturising, colour, primer, brightener, concealer and sunscreen so this is your all-in-one.
Cream to Powder
As a non liquid this is also handy for keeping your liquids down on the plane. Its a concealer, foundation, dries to powder and is great in humidity. Plus its also great for just using as a concealer when you want to wear as little makeup as possible because it can be bought in your skincolour.
3. Eyes
Now settling on eyeshadow colours can be a little tricky for those of us who love a selection but there is some simple tips to help. Pick your favourite highlight colour, a neutral midtone (Mary Kay Hazelnut is my favourite!) and then a Accent colour that complements your eyecolour. The best choices are a grey, dark brown or gold or even a deep purple for a little pop of colour.
The Mary Kay Eyeshadow Quads are a quick way to get four complementary colours in a concise way. All the colour work well together and can be mixed and matched. Also as they have a slight shimmer it adds a bit of glam to your everyday. They are also a great size as in the Mary Kay compact they only take up half the square allowing for the rest of the compact to be filled with a blush or more colours.
Eyeliner
I also love an eyeliner! A liquid liner pen is very handy or a eyeliner pencil is the easiest way to take it and they don't take up much space plus if you can taking a colour that also can be used as an eyebrow pencil means 2-in-1!
Mascara
Don't leave home without it......haha! Well this is important to me, I think a quick brush of mascara does so much so pick a great one that does all that you want!
4. Blush or Bronzer
Blush or Bronzer of course depends entirely on you and what you like. I am personally a blush lover so I like to take that with me in my compact picking one that complements my clothes etc my favourite is Mary Kay Cherry Blossom Blush ($16) plus as I said before it can fit in a compact with a Eyeshadow Quad or my choice of three eyeshadows so keeps everything compact.
5. Lips
Again there is a lot of preference as to what lip product you like but a bright lipstick or coloured lipgloss gives a pop of colour to your outfit.

6. On Flights
So you have a long flight ahead of you what is the best option for makeup on the plane? Again its up to you and what you like to do but travel can make you feel dirty so in most cases less is more.
Before you get on the flight wash and moisturise your face then for a quick and easy option conceal any spots with Cream to Powder and add a touch of mascara. Keep lip balm handy to make sure your lips remain soft throughout the flight. Also might be a good idea to take onboard some makeup wipes so that you can freshen up before you land. Cleaning your face, moisturising and reapply some makeup can make you feel like a new person after hours in a cabin.
Top Tip!!
My favourite travel product is the Mary Kay Makeup Finishing Spray!! This spray goes on over your makeup to keep it set throughout different temperatures and climates. Plus its is very refreshing when you need a pick me up!
So hopefully this is helpful! I will see how I go trying to pack light haha!!
I'll be back in three weeks!
